Over the years, a highly performance-driven approach has helped Tata Bearings achieve an influential and crucial position in its target industry segment. The Bearings Division of Tata Steel is one of India's largest quality bearing manufacturers, with a production capacity of 37 million bearing numbers. It is the only bearings manufacturer in India to have successfully challenged the TPM Award from Japan Institute of Productive Maintenance, Tokyo in 2004 and continues to be the only manufacturer in India in this category to have won this recognition.
Over the years, the Division has developed a unique organisational culture, being committed to the principles that have made the Tata Group one of India’s most dynamic and respected business houses bringing satisfaction and happiness to its consumers and business partners alike.
Ever since the start of operations at the Kharagpur Facility, Tata Bearings has been constantly implementing new technology, and improving systems and processes through innovations in the field to deliver greater value to customers. In the initial stages the technology was obtained from M/s Societe Nouvelle de Roulements (SNR) - France, through a technical collaboration but presently all developments are carried out in-house. The Division has state-of-the-art IT hardware with ASP as the ERP platform for an online information system.
Tata Bearings has a technical collaboration with Nachi Fujikoshi Corp., of Japan for developing and testing of key automotive bearings. For certain applications, it has also tied up with the IITs and CMERI Durgapur.
